I’m going to be taking a bit of a sabbatical from photography for a few weeks. It’s time for a little break.
Photography, for the last year or so, has kind of run my life. If I’m not at my day job, I’m shooting photos, or editing photos, or looking for the next model, or updating my websites, or answering emails, or posting to Twitter or my photography fan page . . . it’s just become too much. And even though my last two models have been two of my best, I found editing their photos to be kind of excruciating. I don’t read anymore; I don’t rest enough; and I have no idea what I would do with my time if it weren’t for photography — but I’m kind of looking forward to seeing what, exactly, it will be.
It’s just time for a break.
I’m not quitting. I’d follow through and finish the job for anyone I’ve already started talking to. If a paid shoot comes my way, I’d probably take it. And if Channing Tatum or someone equally handsome called me, I’d most likely let him come over. But I am pulling back for a while. I may not shoot many new Drifters this summer, or many other models. I might carry the camera around a few times, just to see what I discover serendipitously. It’s been a long time since I have done that.
I’ll keep this blog going as I find inspiring photos from other photographers or other stuff to talk about.
Here’s a behind the scenes video of Aaron O’Connell, my favorite model who hails from Indiana, at the Dhedral underwear shoot that I posted about last week. I thought you might enjoy this.
While Scott C was in town, we also got one photo that works for my Gods series.
Of course, he is a God.
Military guys are hot. So they inspired this post. That’s all, for today.

My new favorite model, from my favorite recent commercial, who grew up in the Indianapolis suburbs and went to Purdue and got away and became a famous model before I had the chance to learn about him and get him into my studio, has a new photo spread for the Italian underwear label, Dhedral.
Here are a few of the images from my recent shoot in Indianapolis with my best California model, Scott C. You can see the whole collection, and his photos from our first shoot, on Vir Impudicus.
When I first heard about model Adam Von Rothfelder, I thought it was interesting that he was covered in tattoos and still doing high fashion photography. I was intrigued, however, (and not exactly in a good way) about his decision to tattoo his name on his chest.
But then when I heard that he got his start as an MMA fighter, I felt a little differently about that. It somehow made the tattoo more acceptable.

Here’s the last of my photos with my newest model, Matt. Obviously, these are from my Erotica collection, and are therefore not safe for work.
There are two more photos of Matt on my Erotica page on Vir Impudicus.
In keeping with the earlier theme of the week, of modeling spreads that have a retro feeling to them, here’s model Parker Gregory for the Spring/Summer issue of Hercules Universal.
The first issue appeals to me the most. I love it. I might do without the cigarette, but I love it, all the same.
